Exam phobia? ooze it out
Never yield to exam phobiaNever yield to the examination phobia. There is an unfortunate trend among some of the teachers and parents to paint examinations as great trials.
This abnormal approach generates great tension in the minds of children, leading to nervousness, anxiety, lack of appetite, empty stomach, and poor performance in the examinations. If a nagging fear that he/she would not be able to perform well in a forthcoming examination haunts a student, he/she may show unwholesome reactions to the question paper. He/she may be swamped with feelings of nervousness, resulting in profuse sweating, shivering, nausea or dizziness. All these have to be averted. It is true that the results of examinations have a profound influence on one's career path. But a low score in an examination does not permanently seal one's fate. You have to view things with a sense of proportion and balance. The best advice is that students should prepare systematically with total dedication and face examinations with confidence, without worrying about the results while they are writing the answers. |
